We all know that iron plates are easy to rust, which is a common phenomenon, but rusted iron plates cannot be cut directly by fiber laser cutting machines.

Laser is the brightest light, the fastest knife, and the most accurate ruler in the world. Whenever unsheathed, sharp and precise. But the laser can't do anything to the rust surface. Because the laser itself cannot become a light source, heat is generated only after being absorbed by the surface of the sheet metal workpiece. For unrusted materials and rusted materials, the laser absorption is very different, and the cutting effect is also different.

Taking the rusted sheet below 5mm as an example, the cutting condition of the overall uniform rusted sheet will be better than that of the uneven rusted sheet. Because the overall uniform rusted plate absorbs the laser light evenly, good cutting can be performed. For material processing with uneven rust on the surface, the surface condition of the material should be uniformly treated before cutting. Of course, if conditions permit, it is recommended to use a grinder for rust removal first.

For thicker rusted sheets, if the rusted sheet is cut directly by a fiber laser cutting machine, it is easy to cause the phenomenon of impervious cutting, poor cutting quality, and even the phenomenon of slag back splashing, which may cause Cause damage to the protective lens, or even focus the lens, causing the ceramic body to burst. Therefore, if cutting thick rusted materials, be sure to remove the rust before cutting.

Fiber laser cutting machines have requirements for materials, so everyone should understand these when using them.
