Due to many times of handling during transportation, many sheet metal manufacturers will film the surface of sheet metal products in order to ensure the consistent surface finish of the sheet metal delivered from the factory, which is often referred to as coated metal materials. For example, our common coated metals include doors and windows, kitchen utensils, etc. Can the coated metal materials be cut with optical fiber laser cutting machine?

In fact, it is not difficult for the fiber laser cutting machine to process the coated metal materials. Now let's talk about how the fiber laser cutting machine cuts the coated metal materials.

According to our normal idea of cutting, in order to ensure that the film is not damaged, we usually cut the side of the film first, the side without the film is facing down, and the side facing down is equipped with a pneumatic device to prevent the machine tool support from scratching the plate. The cutting process is as follows: when cutting, the laser head should be about 10mm, the power should be adjusted to about 300W, then the film should be burned first, the protective film in the path should be burned off, and finally the cutting should be carried out.

There are reasons for this. If one side of the film is facing down, the residue splashed out by the fiber laser cutting machine will adhere to the film due to the thermal effect, resulting in the rough side of the film, and it is difficult to remove the residue. Therefore, it is recommended that customers cut the film surface first.
